Did you notice? One coin suddenly skyrocketed by 71% today?
$OPG this pump was insane, hitting 0.3031 with a volume of 32 million USD. That kind of volume isn't something retail traders can push. My first instinct was to check the news, but there was nothing.
With no good news to back it up and yet such a sudden spike, it’s either the whales playing their games or someone having insider info. I’m not chasing this kind of pump without fundamentals. Jumping in just hands over the bag to the whales, and good luck trying to exit.
On the flip side, $PHB dropped 70%, which is even scarier. At a price of 0.015, it was a total knee-jerk reaction, with a volume of only 1.5 million USD, a clear sign of liquidity drying up. Such a crash is likely due to the project team or big players dumping, causing retail panic selling. I've seen too many of these patterns; once it drops to low volume, that's likely the bottom, while those with volume are still halfway down.
BTC is currently at 65441, up 1.56%, with funding still positive, indicating the bulls are holding strong. However, this scenario of a stable major market with altcoins spiking and crashing is a classic feature of the end of a bear market.
My take: I’m not chasing $OPG ; the probability of opportunity is low; and I'm avoiding $PHB; catching falling knives can be painful. I’ll just watch BTC’s direction and wait for the major market to choose a direction before making any moves.
What do you think? Is this wave of spikes an opportunity or a trap?
