【What would you do if the US stock market suddenly dropped 40% tomorrow?】

Honestly, I've thought about this question.

It's one of those hypotheticals—imagine waking up after a good night's sleep and seeing Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft all plummet to rock-bottom prices; what would you do? Cut losses? Buy the dip? Or just be completely dazed?

I pondered this too. Eventually, I realized that such extreme scenarios help clarify one key thing: can my position handle the turbulence?

Right now, market sentiment isn't looking too great; the fear and greed index is sitting at 20, and it's been stuck there for a whole week. The total market cap of crypto is $2.29 trillion, with Bitcoin holding 56%—is that a high percentage? Not really, it's more about the funds still concentrating at the top. But with a global trading volume of only $80 billion, it shows everyone is just sitting on the sidelines, hesitant to make moves.

The Fed has been playing a game of Tai Chi, with interest rate cut expectations fluctuating, and every piece of news they release sends the market into a spin. Recently, tech stocks in the US have been struggling; AI concepts are getting a lot of hype, but there are hardly any companies that can deliver real results. Chip stocks had a strong run for a while, but they too are starting to show signs of fatigue.

My take is, don't let market panic steer you off course. A low fear index doesn't mean an immediate rebound, and a high sentiment doesn't guarantee further gains. The worst thing is to chase in during a rally and panic-sell during a dip, just handing over money to the market time and again.

So my current strategy is to: manage my positions and diversify investments. I hold some in the US stocks, some in crypto, and also keep a bit in bonds or blue-chip stocks. This way, if one market crashes, at least I won't be wiped out completely.

It’s no exaggeration to say that in investing, what matters in the end isn’t who makes the most, but who lasts the longest.

What do you think? Are you currently keeping an eye on both the US stock market and the crypto space?

A. Mainly focused on US stocks, especially tech
B. Mainly in the crypto space, focusing on digital assets
C. Watching both, but I pay more attention to macro signals
