Who is buying crypto right now?
Something interesting is happening in the crypto market.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs have started seeing strong inflows again — while Open Interest is not showing the same explosive growth.
That makes me wonder:
Is this leverage-driven speculation, or is real capital accumulating spot BTC?
My current hypothesis:
🏦 Institutional allocation
Funds may be using the ETF as an easier way to add a small Bitcoin allocation.
💰 Dip buyers
Some investors may simply believe that the recent negative news is already priced in.
🔄 Portfolio rebalancing
Capital may be rotating into crypto after the market survived several negative catalysts better than expected.
⚠️ What I don't see yet:
A huge leverage-driven OI expansion.
So the interesting question isn't only:
“Why is Bitcoin going up?”
It's:
“Who is actually buying?”
If ETF inflows continue while OI stays relatively restrained, the answer may be more interesting than the price itself.
