According to CNBC, Chinese President Xi Jinping has begun his first U.S. state visit in more than a decade as Huawei Technologies and Alibaba Group roll out new chips and AI models that Beijing says show U.S. export controls have limits. Huawei moved up the launch of its Ascent 960DT chip to the first quarter of 2027, three quarters ahead of schedule, while Alibaba’s chip unit unveiled the Zhenwu V900 at the Apsara Conference in Hangzhou and said it triples the performance of its predecessor and will go on sale in early 2027.

Analysts said the releases give Xi more evidence to argue that Washington’s restrictions can slow China’s AI development but have not stopped it. The article also said U.S. models remain ahead on technical benchmarks and profitability, and that American firms such as Anthropic and OpenAI generate 50 to 100 times the revenue of comparable Chinese companies.
