From September 1, non-U.S. users gained access to 1,000+ U.S. stock and ETF options through Nest Trading, with clearing handled by Alpaca. The actual shares are delivered only if you exercise the option.
There are already 7,000+ spot stocks, while TradFi perpetual activity has exploded. In August, total perpetual notional reached around $433.4B, compared with just $29.5B in January nearly 15Ă higher.
Individual-stock perpetuals alone contributed about $342.9B, or roughly 79% of the total.
But donât confuse perpetuals with options.
Perpetuals are settled in USDT and can trade even on weekends. Options follow U.S. stock market hours, and near expiry you must manually exercise them. If you donât exercise within the required window, they wonât be exercised automatically.
