BitTorrent Didn’t Become Web3 — It Forced Web3 to Mature
A lot of Web3 projects are still figuring out basic coordination.
BitTorrent already solved it years ago.
What blockchain added wasn’t capability — it added structure. Through Justin Sun and the TRON ecosystem, BitTorrent gained a financial layer that aligned incentives at scale.
But here’s the part people overlook:
BitTorrent didn’t change its core function.
It refined it.
Files still move peer-to-peer.
Nodes still contribute resources.
The difference is now those contributions are measurable and rewarded.
That’s not disruption. That’s evolution.

Most Web3 systems are still trying to find product-market fit. BitTorrent already has it — which puts it in a completely different category.
