Treehouse and the Liquid Staking Landscape: A Comparative View Liquid staking has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in DeFi, with protocols like Lido and Rocket Pool shaping Ethereum’s validator economy. A new entrant, Treehouse, is now positioning itself as a credible alternative by combining professional-grade validator performance with community-driven governance, while also extending beyond staking into fixed-income products. Who Becomes a Validator? At the core of every liquid staking protocol lies one question: who is eligible to run validators? Lido operates a permissioned model, where a small set of professional operators, approved by the DAO, run validators. This ensures high reliability but raises centralization concerns. Rocket Pool takes the opposite approach. With as little as 8 ETH, anyone can launch a validator. This maximizes decentralization but introduces variability in performance. Treehouse adopts a hybrid Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) model. Only professional node operators are eligible, ensuring performance standards. However, the community of TREE token holders decides who enters or exits the validator set, introducing a layer of decentralized accountability. Balancing the Trilemma Each model reflects a different answer to the blockchain trilemma of performance, security, and decentralization: Lido prioritizes performance. Rocket Pool maximizes decentralization. Treehouse seeks a balance, coupling efficiency with governance transparency. Beyond Staking: Fixed Income in DeFi @Treehouse Official also differentiates itself by venturing into fixed income — one of the least developed areas of DeFi. By tokenizing predictable cash flows, Treehouse offers the blockchain equivalent of bonds, appealing to both retail users seeking stable yields and institutions requiring compliant, risk-adjusted products.
