مطلع عام 2014 ظهرت شابة بلغارية جميلة تدعى "روجا إغناتوفا" درست القانون في جامعة أكسفورد العريقة، وحصلت لاحقا على الدكتوراه من جامعة "كونستانتز" الألمانية، لتعلن عن تأسيس شركة لإدارة الأصول الرقمية بإسم #OneCoin ومعها مشروع عملة يحمل نفس الاسم، وروجت أنها ستكون عملة رقمية ثورية مدعومة بتقنية بلوكتشين متطورة وقادرة على منافسة #البيتكوين والعملات الرقمية الأخرى، ليتبين لاحقًا أن هذه الادعاءات كلها مجرد أكاذيب، فلم يكن هناك أي بلوكتشين حقيقي أو تقنية تشفير خلف العملة، بل وكانت العملة نفسها غير قابلة للتداول في الأسواق الحقيقية.
المحتالة الانيقة:
استخدمت روجا مظهرها الأنيق وخلفيتها الأكاديمية والمالية وعملها في مجال المحاماة والقانون لإقناع المستثمرين ورجال الاعمال بمصداقية مشروع OneCoin وكونه فرصة استثمارية سهلة ومربحة، مما جذب آلاف الأشخاص من جميع أنحاء العالم، خاصة من دول أوروبا وآسيا وأفريقيا.
وكانت تعمل معهم بنظام الهرم المالي (Ponzi Scheme) حيث كان المستثمرون يشترون "حزم تعليمية" تحتوي على وحدات من "ون كوين" وتعدهم بعوائد ضخمة وسريعة، مع ادعاءات بأن قيمة العملة سترتفع بشكل كبير في المستقبل.
الكشف عن الاحتيال:

ثم تلا ذلك اعتقال العديد من المتورطين في مشروع OneCoin بما فيهم "كونستانتين" شقيق روجا، وتمت إدانة عدة أشخاص مرتبطين بهذا المشروع في الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا.
الا ان "روجا" لا تزال مختفية حتى اليوم، ويعتقد أنها تعيش تحت هوية مزيفة في دولة مجهولة، بعد ان نصبت واستولت على مدخرات وأموال المستثمرين المنكوبين.

تعتبر هذه القضية واحدة من أكبر الفضائح وعمليات الاحتيال في تاريخ العملات الرقمية حتى ان وسائل الإعلام أطلقت على المسئولة الرئيسية عنها "روجا إغناتوفا" لقب "ملكة بيتكوين المزيفة".
