To enhance security and protect our users from SMS phishing scams, Binance will be attaching an anti-phishing code to certain SMS messages sent to users in selected countries.
Previously, anti-phishing code was only used in emails. Enabling such a code in SMS messages allows you to cross-check the code in the SMS against the one you have set up, validating the message’s authenticity and thus helping you prevent phishing attempts.
To benefit from this new feature, we recommend that you set up your antiphishing code now. Read on to learn how these codes work, how to set one up and update it.
Please note: All account-related issues are handled exclusively through the Binance app or website. If you receive a message claiming to be from Binance that asks you to call them, and it hasn't been confirmed through the app — it's a scam. Ignore it and report it to our customer support team.
An anti-phishing code is a unique code set by you. It contains a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters that adds an extra layer of security to your Binance account. Once you've created and enabled your anti-phishing code, it will be included in all genuine emails and selected SMS messages from Binance. This allows you to easily recognize if the SMS is genuinely from Binance.
Here is an example of how an SMS message with an anti-phishing code looks like before and after you’ve set up the anti-phishing code. The “Anti-Phishing: XXXX” comes at the very end of such SMS.
The green box highlights a legitimate SMS from Binance, while the red box shows a scammer’s SMS.
In our latest release, the length of an anti-phishing code should be between 6 and 8 characters and include at least three of the following character types: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and underscores.
Once you set up the code, please keep it safe and do not share it with others. You should also update the anti-phishing code from time to time to better protect your account.
