On June 12, former US President Trump posted on Truth Social that he hopes that the remaining bitcoins will be mined in the United States. Trump mentioned in his post that this move is aimed at ensuring that the key Bitcoin industry can remain in the United States to strengthen the country's control and economic influence over cryptocurrencies.
Presidential Roundtable on Bitcoin Mining
According to Matthew Schultz, executive chairman of Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc., on Tuesday night, several Bitcoin mining industry representatives met with former President Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
Schultz said Trump told attendees that he liked and understood cryptocurrencies, adding that bitcoin miners help stabilize energy supplies for the power grid. Schultz also said Trump said he would be a champion for miners in the White House.
Dubbed the "Presidential Roundtable on Bitcoin Mining," attendees included Nasdaq-listed bitcoin mining companies CleanSpark and Riot Platforms, Marathon Digital and other notable industry players. Key figures included S Matthew Schultz of Clean Spark, Jason Les and Brian Morgenstern of Riot Platforms, Salman Khan, CFO of Marathon Digital, and Amanda Fabiano of Fabiano Consulting (former Galaxy Mining executive and Fidelity director).
Several of them also posted photos with Trump.
