How are Binance trading fees calculated? Where does the referral commission come from, and what if I forgot to fill in the invitation code?

Just fill in an invitation code and you’ll get 20% back. Who pays this money? It comes from the trading fees you pay yourself.

On the “Spot Trading Fee Rate” page, the tier for regular users says “< 1,000,000 USD or ≥ 0 BNB”, with a fee rate of 0.100% / 0.100%. Maker and taker are charged at the same rate in this tier, so you can’t save money by studying order-posting techniques. To get an even lower rate, use BNB to pay.

The official description of the commission mechanism is the clearest: “After the referred person completes trades, the inviter will receive a commission, and can choose whether to share the cashback with the referred person.”

Here, I’ll give you the 20% by registering with WIN98 (https://www.binance.com/zh-CN/join?ref=WIN98). I bear the actual 0.100% cost of about 0.08%—that’s the 80% discount. It’s a lifelong binding, not an event price. The referral commission is calculated hourly and converted to USDC. After the conversion is completed, it will be transferred to your spot account within 6 hours.

If you didn’t fill in the code, you can still bind it. The official page is called “Bind Super Referral Code”, not “Supplement/Update the Referral Code”: https://www.binance.com/zh-CN/activity/referral/bind-ref.

Three scenarios—pick the one that fits you.

1. New account: Less than 30 days since registration, no deposits, no trading, and no referral code bound before. Just enter WIN98 on that page and submit—no trading volume requirement.

2. Small old account: In the past 90 days, your trading volume is not more than $5,000, you’ve completed real-name verification, and you haven’t bound any code before. Enter the code on the same page. It’s still an 80% discount, but this tier is the only one with a task: trade a total of $150,000 within 30 days. Zero-fee trades don’t count. For futures, it’s based on the notional成交额 (nominal traded amount); opening and closing are each counted once. If you have a $5,000 position and rotate it a dozen times, it’s enough. Estimated cost: about $75.

3. Accounts with no trades in the last 90 days: Don’t use the “bind-supplement” page. Log in to your original account using the line above (邀请链接), then bind according to the prompts.

If you’ve already bound someone else’s code, you can’t补充 (can’t add/update); the official site doesn’t allow changes.

In real life, the practical approach is to register another account using a family member’s identity to trade, and leave the original account only for deposits and withdrawals. Don’t unsubscribe and re-create the account. If it’s the same real name, you have to wait 180 days; if you register again before 180 days, it will be detected, and you won’t get any referral commission.
