Anthropic has struck a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms, a bitcoin mining company that has recently started selling data-center capacity for AI.

Riot shares jumped by +25% in after-hours trading following this news.

Riot will provide 191 megawatts of computing capacity from its campus in Rockdale, Texas — enough to power about 143,000 homes.

The contract is for 20 years, until June 2048. It can be extended twice, by five years each time, which will increase the total sales volume to $16.1 billion.
