According to Reuters, Iran has rejected Oman's proposal for a regional mechanism to jointly manage shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. An Iranian senior official also said one inbound route through the strait must pass entirely through Iranian waters, while another route must also pass partly through Iranian waters.
