The WEMIX Layer 1 network suffered a security incident after the stablecoin contract property of WEMIX$ was compromised. The attacker minted 5.23 million WEMIX$ without authorization, which were quickly converted into 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198 USDC.e.
🌉 Money Laundering Route and Asset Freezing
The assets in USDC.e were moved via bridges to the Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain networks in order to be exchanged for Ether and USDT. Subsequently, part of the capital was distributed and deposited on centralized exchanges (CEX).
🛑 WEMIX Emergency Measures
After identifying the vulnerability, the platform temporarily suspended all of its cross-chain bridges, halted liquidity in the affected pools, and formally requested the blocking and freezing of the identified addresses.
