On July 24, the U.S. Department of State launched the Freedom Tech Excellence Program (FTEP)—an initiative to protect digital rights and ensure responsible AI regulation. Staff from partner organizations will work together with the agency on freedom of speech on the internet, private technologies, countering surveillance, and artificial intelligence issues. The program’s co-founders include the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), defense contractors Palantir Technologies and Anduril Industries, as well as the Memorial Foundation for Victims of Communism.
