According to the Disaster Management Center, nearly 200,000 people have been displaced and are currently seeking safe shelter in over 1,000 temporary shelters. Authorities are working to gradually restore electricity, water, and communications in the coming days after the cyclone and the subsequent floods swept away transportation lines and transformers.

In response to this disaster, the Binance Charity Foundation pledged to donate approximately 61.6 million Sri Lankan Rupees (200,000 USD) to support urgent humanitarian relief and early recovery efforts. This donation will be channeled through the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) to provide immediate assistance to communities affected by the Dithwa cyclone.

The Red Cross and the Binance Charity Foundation are mobilizing relief efforts for the victims of the Dithwa cyclone.

The contribution from the Binance Charity Foundation will be allocated to provide life-saving relief essentials, such as food supplies, clean drinking water, personal hygiene items, medical supplies, emergency medical assistance, temporary shelter materials, as well as cash grants to the most vulnerable communities. This support aims to alleviate the immediate burden on displaced families and help accelerate recovery efforts in the most affected areas.
