Most new L2s love marketing themselves as “revolutionary.” New VM. New tools. New frameworks. New everything. Linea does the complete opposite — it tries to feel exactly like Ethereum, just without the pain points.
And honestly, that’s probably why it’s growing.
Developers don’t want to spend days rewriting contracts. They don’t want new compilers or new languages. They just want their existing stack to run smoothly. Linea gives them that: same Solidity, same environment, same muscle memory.
The zk-tech underneath is impressive, but the best part is that the user never has to think about it. The chain feels like Ethereum on its best day — low friction, lower cost, cleaner execution.
Adoption across DeFi and social apps didn’t feel forced. It happened naturally because the migration barrier is almost zero. And the decision to stick with ETH for gas keeps the chain aligned with Ethereum culture instead of fracturing it.
There are challenges — mainly decentralizing the prover and sequencer — but at least Linea isn’t pretending those are solved. The communication is honest, not theatrical.
Linea doesn’t scream for attention. It simply works in a way builders actually prefer. And sometimes that’s more powerful than innovation for the sake of innovation.
