XRP struggles to break above $3, but what if the solution to finally push it to new highs is… burning tokens? Yes, you read that right. Some experts believe that a significant burn could work wonders.
💥 Massive burn to be able to take off?
Currently, each transaction on the XRP Ledger generates a micro fee that is destroyed forever. But let's be honest: it's a drop in the ocean. Some believe it's time to move to another scale for the price to soar.
The current rate is about 600 $XRP burned per day, far from the 2,700 before. In 13 years, only 14.19 million XRP have been burned, which is 0.014% of the initial supply of 100,000 million. At this rate, it would take more than 1,000 years to burn 1 billion tokens, not even 1% of the total.
So, what would be the impact of a massive burn? We asked Google Gemini. According to their calculations, burning 10% of the supply would be a real shock.
With a supply reduction from 59.48 to 49.48 billion, and a market cap that remained at $161,000 million, the price of XRP would mechanically rise from $2.71 to about $3.25.
But Gemini goes further: markets also react to psychology and anticipation. Such an event would attract new investors, driving the price to between $4 and $5. This would surpass the historical record of $3.84!
In the long term, with greater demand and lower supply, some project XRP at $10-$15. The market cap would then reach between $495,000-$742,000 million.
💥 A necessary strategy?
But let's be realistic: the price of XRP is struggling to break out of its downward spiral. Despite the optimism of certain analysts, the cryptocurrency has fallen more than 11% this month and remains stuck under the $3 resistance. The $2.90 level has already rejected the price on several occasions.
The technical indicators are not encouraging either: the price remains below its 50-day moving average ($3.07) and the RSI (43.67) confirms a bearish trend.
Not even catalysts like an XRP ETF or the adoption of compliance tools on the XRPL have managed to trigger a rally. In the short term, the price is likely to remain trapped between $2.70-$2.90. So, could a massive burn be the push XRP needs to take off once and for all? We will have to wait and see…
