Golden Finance reported that U.S. President Trump took action on Friday to exempt graphite, tungsten, uranium, gold bars, and other metals from his country's tariffs while imposing taxes on silicone products. According to an executive order released on Friday, these changes will take effect on Monday. Trump's directive may also expedite the implementation of customized trade agreements between the U.S. and other countries, making it easier for Washington to eliminate tariffs on aircraft parts, generic drugs, and certain products that cannot be domestically grown, mined, or naturally produced (such as special spices, coffee, and some rare metals). The President's order states that these changes were made based on recommendations from U.S. officials. Under this measure, "these modifications are necessary and appropriate to address the national emergency declared by Trump when he first implemented national-level tariffs in April."
