On-chain data shows that a whale who acquired 1 million Ether through the Ethereum ICO has resurfaced today (5) after being silent for more than 4 years, depositing 150,000 Ether (approximately $646 million) all at once into staking.

According to on-chain data analyst Yu Jin, this ancient giant whale originally acquired 1 million Ether through 3 addresses during the 2015 Ethereum ICO. The last action of these addresses was in July 2021, when they transferred 55,000 Ether to Gemini, at which time the price of Ether was $2,462.

Recently, several early Ethereum whales have 'awakened' one after another, starting to move their holdings, echoing the bullish sentiment in the market towards Ethereum. In August, another ICO investor transferred approximately $19 million worth of Ether to Kraken and sold 1,060 Ether over several days. Last month, an ICO address was also found to have transferred 2,300 Ether to Kraken.

The Ethereum ICO event was held from July 22 to September 2, 2014, raising a total of $18.3 million, selling over 60 million Ether, with an average issuance price of only $0.31 per coin.

As of the time of writing, Ether has dropped 0.6% in the past 24 hours, reporting at $4,333; Bitcoin has risen 1.2%, reaching $111,707.
