Latest developments in the dismissal of Fed Governor Lisa Cook
Lisa Cook has filed a lawsuit claiming that President Trump violated federal law by removing her from office, while also seeking a temporary injunction to block her dismissal until the case is resolved.
Key arguments presented in Cook’s lawsuit:
1️⃣ On the mortgage fraud allegations, her lawyer did not deny them outright but argued they were merely “unintentional paperwork errors” (signing mistakes), not deliberate misconduct or serious enough to warrant removal.
2️⃣ The dismissal process was rushed, giving her no prior notice or opportunity for a hearing to ensure fairness.
3️⃣ She is the first Black woman to serve as a Governor on the Federal Reserve Board.
An online hearing scheduled for 9 PM tonight (Vietnam time) will decide whether the court grants a temporary injunction preventing Lisa Cook’s removal.
Meanwhile, U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte has also filed a separate criminal complaint against Lisa Cook with the Department of Justice.
In addition to the controversies surrounding two properties in Michigan and Georgia, Pulte alleges that Cook committed mortgage fraud with a third property in Massachusetts:
- She took out a $361K mortgage to purchase a condo in Massachusetts, declaring it as a “second home” to qualify for a lower interest rate.
- Just eight months later, she reported earning $15K–$50K in rental income from the condo and declared it as an investment property, raising potential criminal violations.
