Horizon: the first RWA market for institutional investors
According to the company's blog, Horizon will become a market for institutional-level RWA. It allows borrowing stablecoins such as USDC, GHO, and RLUSD against traditional financial assets like U.S. Treasury bonds, corporate bonds, and money market funds (MMF).
The launch addresses a key issue for institutional adoption. Most DeFi protocols are open and permissionless, which is not always compatible with the internal policies and regulatory obligations of institutional investors.
In $AAVE , it was emphasized that Horizon provides compliant infrastructure. The team developed it to meet institutional requirements for secured lending, making on-chain lending against real assets scalable for the first time.
