Aimed at developing an advanced data accessibility layer to address key issues in the Web3 and AI data ecosystems. This collaboration combines Walrus's cutting-edge decentralized storage capabilities with Chainbase's enterprise-grade data architecture, laying a strong, scalable, and trustless foundation for future data.

At the core of this collaboration is the integration of Chainbase's foundational data accessibility layer into the Walrus ecosystem. This layer is designed to ingest, verify, and immutably store large volumes of on-chain and off-chain data, serving as the foundation for AI models, decentralized applications (dApps), and blockchain systems spanning over 200 networks.

Chainbase currently manages over 300TB of blockchain data and is rapidly becoming one of the leading enterprise users of decentralized storage. By building its infrastructure on top of Walrus, Chainbase aims to tackle the data scalability issue by storing large amounts of raw blockchain data in a cost-effective and decentralized manner, ensuring data integrity through zero-knowledge proofs, aggregating and standardizing data from hundreds of chains for ease of access, and supporting trustless AI workflows to provide verifiable high-quality data sources for decentralized retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and AI agents.

The partnership between Chainbase and Walrus will establish a high-performance decentralized data lake architecture aimed at achieving large-scale scalability, real-time updates, and enterprise-grade integrity. This data lake is realized through WalruS3, an open-source, S3-compatible interface developed by Chainbase and available on GitHub. WalruS3 enables developers to interact seamlessly with Walrus just as they would with traditional cloud storage solutions, allowing existing cloud-native tools and workflows to integrate directly with decentralized infrastructure.

The first phase of the project focuses on integrating Ethereum blockchain data, approximately 2TB, as a real-world stress test. This initial dataset will be used to assess the storage cost efficiency, performance, and reliability of the Walrus network during the mainnet phase. Insights from this pilot will provide important guidance for future cross-chain data integration scaling decisions.

Meanwhile, the architecture introduces advanced mechanisms to ensure data quality and accessibility, including change data capture (CDC), inventory and change log systems, and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP), which provide cryptographic guarantees of data authenticity and provenance verification. The storage consensus paradigm (SCP) is a novel consensus method that focuses on verifying data availability through storage proofs instead of traditional compute-intensive consensus models.

The collaboration between Chainbase and Walrus is not just about infrastructure integration; it also opens up a new ecosystem for builders, researchers, and AI developers. By Q3 2025, the project will integrate most of Chainbase's blockchain data into the Walrus network, establishing an unprecedented decentralized data repository. This will directly feed into Chainbase's Manuscript data framework, providing developers with structured blockchain datasets and pre-built templates for building AI-ready data pipelines.

This roadmap will culminate in Q4 2025 with the launch of a modular decentralized retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system based on Walrus, aimed at providing verifiable cross-chain blockchain data access for AI agents and large language models (LLMs), supporting semantic search, and creating new standards for trustworthy data-driven AI applications. The system will also feature a marketplace for models and datasets, empowering developers and researchers to share and monetize their contributions.

"This collaboration is an important step towards making decentralized data truly accessible, reliable, and scalable," said the Chainbase leadership team. "By integrating with Walrus, we not only address current data challenges but also lay the groundwork for the infrastructure that will drive AI, decentralized finance (DeFi), and the decentralized internet in the coming decades."

Walrus also expressed agreement: "Chainbase has unparalleled scale, experience, and vision in managing blockchain data. This collaboration validates Walrus's position as a production-grade storage layer and expands our mission to support the next wave of Web3 and AI innovation."

Chainbase is committed to integrating global blockchain data, providing robust support for an open and transparent data interoperability layer. Walrus, as a decentralized storage and data availability protocol focused on large binary files, aims to provide reliable and cost-effective solutions for unstructured content on decentralized storage nodes.
