For years, smart contracts have been powerful but myopic, limited by the immense cost and difficulty of accessing and computing over large volumes of historical on-chain data. Lagrange’s ZK Coprocessor shatters this limitation with its Verifiable Database architecture, a system that transforms entire blockchains into queryable, ZK-friendly databases.

The architecture is built on a crucial insight: instead of performing costly data extraction on the fly, it’s more efficient to first preprocess and index the data. The Lagrange network acts as an advanced indexer, systematically reconstructing a target blockchain’s entire database, including storage, state, and blocks, into a new format optimized for distributed queries. For every block, a new, query efficient version of the original storage trie is generated, with cryptographic proofs guaranteeing it contains the identical data.

This Verifiable Database is composed of three distinct, interconnected layers. The Block Database stores and indexes block level information like headers and transaction data, optimized for temporal queries across block ranges. The State Database manages account level data such as balances and nonces, tailored for verifying state transitions and account history. Finally, the Storage Database handles contract specific data, enabling complex, slot level queries and cross contract analysis.

This system unlocks a new design space for dApps. A DeFi protocol could verifiably calculate volume based on trading discounts by querying a user's entire transaction history, a task previously impossible on-chain. Developers can execute these powerful computations using familiar SQL like syntax, with the network handling the complex proof generation in the background. The $LA token is the key to accessing this power, used to pay for the computational resources that turn blockchain data into verifiable insights. The utility of the $LA token grows with every query.
