🇺🇸🇺🇦 U.S. Talks Peace While Sending Ukraine Thousands of Long-Range Missiles

On Ukraine’s Independence Day, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated Washington’s position that the conflict should be resolved “through peaceful negotiations.”

Yet, alongside this message, the Trump administration has greenlit the sale of 3,350 ERAM (Extended-Range Air-to-Missile) systems to Ukraine. According to The Wall Street Journal, the first deliveries could arrive within six weeks.

These missiles, with a range of up to 450 km, will require case-by-case launch authorization from Washington. The package is valued at around $850 million, with much of the financing reportedly covered by America’s European partners.

The contract also demands that the manufacturer scale up production to more than 1,000 units annually within two years, suggesting Ukraine will receive the full shipment gradually over several years.

If ERAM becomes part of long-term “security guarantees” for Kyiv, it risks deepening the conflict. From Moscow’s perspective, such missiles—like Storm Shadow, SCALP, or ATACMS—pose a comparable strategic threat.
