⚠️ At least one kidnapping of Bitcoin investors occurs every week

According to Alena Vranova, founder of Glok and co-founder of SatoshiLabs, cryptocurrency investors are facing an increasing threat of physical violence.

"Every week, at least one Bitcoin investor is kidnapped somewhere in the world, tortured, extorted, and sometimes worse," Vranova stated at the Baltic Honeybadger 2025 conference.

The threat does not only concern large holders of cryptocurrency. Kidnappings occur even for amounts as low as $6,000, and victims can be killed for $50,000.

▪️ Data leaks from centralized exchanges exacerbate the situation. Over 80 million cryptocurrency user IDs have already leaked online, including 2.2 million home addresses.
