Shorting ETH is unsafe; everyone is exchanging BTC for ETH.
Although I also don't understand why they didn't exchange when ETH was over 1000 USD a few months ago; wouldn't that have allowed them to exchange several times more ETH?
But it's fine; it might be too early to layout long-term short positions.
Holding on to pay the funding rate is also an option.
