Why do I believe WalletConnect will become the "gateway-level" infrastructure of Web3?
In the history of the internet, there have been some "seemingly small but crucial" infrastructures: the HTTP protocol, TCP/IP, and even the app distribution mechanism of the App Store. They may not be the flashiest technologies, but they have determined the direction of entire industries. I believe that in the Web3 world, WalletConnect has the potential to play a similar role.
Imagine if there were no unified "connection layer"; each DApp would need to adapt to wallets individually, and each wallet would have to establish interfaces with DApps independently, leading to fragmentation and inefficiency across the industry. The emergence of WalletConnect acts like a hub, connecting these scattered points together.
Many people only see WalletConnect as a "tool for scanning to log into DApps," but I believe its potential goes far beyond that:
It is the gateway to Web3: In the future, when we open any decentralized application, the most natural action will be to click "Connect Wallet," and behind the scenes, it is highly likely that the WalletConnect protocol is running.
It is a guarantee of trust: Through encryption and local signing mechanisms, users can operate with confidence, keeping their assets securely in their hands.
It is the cornerstone of expansion: No matter how many public chains and emerging wallets there are in the future, WalletConnect can serve as a standard layer to unify them.
The significance of the $WCT token lies in binding the interests of the community and the protocol together, allowing more people to participate in the development of WalletConnect. This is not only a design of token economics but also a guarantee for the long-term sustainability of the protocol.
As a long-term user, I have connected different DeFi platforms through WalletConnect in my mobile wallet multiple times, and the experience has been quite smooth. Compared to wallets that require importing private keys or browser plugins, this method is lighter and more secure.
In my view, the main gateway to the future Web3 world will not be a single wallet or a single application, but rather infrastructure like WalletConnect. It may seem low-key, but it is the foundation upon which the entire ecosystem can thrive. I look forward to @WalletConnect realizing this vision step by step. #WalletConnect $WCT
