Gemini announced the launch of an XRP Mastercard on August 25, 2025. The news was revealed through a striking billboard campaign in New York, with the message “Pack your bags” and showing an elegant black card with the XRP logo.

The card, a result of a strategic partnership between Gemini, Ripple, and WebBank, has a financial backing of $75 million. This will allow XRP holders to spend cryptocurrencies at millions of Mastercard merchants worldwide, thanks to the instant conversion to local currency.

The system guarantees to process transactions in less than 5 seconds, with fees as low as 1%. Additionally, it automatically converts XRP to local currency at the point of sale, thus eliminating any concerns about exchange rate fluctuations.

The launch of the XRP Mastercard coincides with Thailand's new crypto tourism initiative, TouristDigiPay. This suggests that the card could initially target tourists who hold crypto, as tourism represents nearly 20% of the country's GDP.

Despite the announcement, XRP is currently priced at $2.86, a 14.7% decrease in the last week. However, analysts view the integration with Mastercard as a possible catalyst for the larger-scale adoption of cryptocurrency payments.
