Google has announced the global expansion of AI Mode in Google Search, launching the feature in 180 countries in English. Previously available only in the USA, UK, and India, AI Mode allows for complex questions to be asked and detailed answers to be received with AI support. This was reported on the Search Engine Land platform.
AI Mode uses the 'query fan-out' technique, which executes multiple related search queries simultaneously, synthesizing data from various sources including Google Knowledge Graph and Maps. In the USA, the feature has gained agent capabilities such as restaurant bookings through integration with OpenTable and Resy, as well as personalizing results based on search history. Support for booking tickets and local services is planned soon.
So far, AI Mode is only available in English, but Google plans to add other languages. In the EU, the feature is unavailable due to regulatory restrictions. The new option allows users to share answers via links, simplifying collaboration, for example, for travel planning.
This step strengthens Google's position in competition with ChatGPT and Bing, but raises concerns about website traffic. Stay tuned for updates!
