The U.S. Department of Justice Will No Longer Prosecute Decentralized Software Developers Under Specific Charges
According to reports, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that it will no longer prosecute truly decentralized and non-custodial software developers under the charge of 1960(b)(1)(C) in the future. This policy was announced by Matthew Galeotti, acting head of the DOJ's Criminal Division, at an industry summit in Wyoming, where he emphasized that other charges may still apply if there is criminal intent. Previously, Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm was convicted under this charge and faces up to five years in prison.
