BlockBeats news, August 22, on-chain detective ZachXBT disclosed in his personal channel that on August 19, 2025, a victim suffered a social engineering attack, losing 783 bitcoins (approximately 91.4 million USD) while being impersonated by customer service from a trading platform and a hardware wallet.
The stolen funds began to be gradually dispersed and transferred, with the attacker making multiple deposits to Wasabi. Coincidentally, this theft occurred on the one-year anniversary of the $243 million theft case involving Genesis creditors.
