ChainCatcher message, according to on-chain detective ZachXBT, on August 19, 2025, a victim fell victim to a social engineering attack, losing 783 bitcoins (approximately 91.4 million USD) while being impersonated by customer service of a trading platform and hardware wallet.
The stolen funds began to be gradually dispersed and transferred, with the attacker making multiple deposits to Wasabi. Coincidentally, this theft occurred on the anniversary of the $243 million theft case involving Genesis creditors.
