MetaMask partners with Stripe to launch new stablecoin mUSD on Ethereum

According to reports, MetaMask has announced that it will launch its first native stablecoin mUSD later this year, supporting both Ethereum and Linea networks. This stablecoin is issued by Stripe's Bridge platform and built on the decentralized infrastructure of M0. MetaMask stated that mUSD will become the default digital dollar unit in its ecosystem and will be deeply integrated into Linea's DeFi ecosystem, including lending markets, decentralized exchanges, and custody platforms to enhance liquidity and optimize user experience. Users will be able to recharge, hold, exchange, transfer, and perform cross-chain operations with mUSD through MetaMask, and plans are in place to support spending at Mastercard merchants via MetaMask Card by the end of the year. The specific issuance date and scale have not yet been announced, and more technical details and user guides will be released in the coming weeks. Earlier reports suggested that informed sources revealed that the crypto wallet MetaMask may announce details about the stablecoin mUSD this week.
