1inch, the leading DEX aggregator, has introduced a new DeFi feature:
Trustless cross-chain swaps between Solana and over 12 EVM networks, without relying on bridges or third-party messaging protocols.
Now available via the 1inch dApp, wallet, and Fusion+ API, where users can transfer assets directly between Solana and all major EVM networks in a fully decentralized, secure, and seamless manner with complete MEV protection.
Cross-chain swaps for Solana without a bridge
Until now, interaction between Solana and EVM networks typically required bridges or external messaging protocols such as Wormhole, Axelar, LayerZero, and Chainlink CCIP. Despite the prevalence of these systems, they have proven to be vulnerable, with bridge hacks being one of the most significant security risks in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.
In February 2022, the Wormhole bridge, which connects Solana and Ethereum, was hacked, resulting in a loss of over $320 million. Attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Wormhole signature verification process, allowing them to mint $120,000 worth of wrapped ETH on Solana without the necessary collateral on Ethereum. This led to the depletion of the protocol's funds and highlighted the inherent risks in traditional bridge-based cross-network solutions.
