⚡️ Solana Breaks 100,000 TPS Barrier ⚡️
Over the weekend, Solana briefly hit a record 107,540 transactions per second (TPS) on its mainnet — a milestone that showcases the blockchain’s speed and scalability. 🚀
🔎 What happened:
•A single block processed 43,016 successful transactions (and just 50 failures).
•Much of the spike came from “noop” test transactions (minimal instructions used for stress-testing).
•According to Solana developer Mert Mumtaz, the network’s design could sustainably handle 80K–100K TPS for real-world operations like token transfers & oracle updates.
📊 Reality check:
•Everyday Solana throughput averages ~3,700 TPS (much of it validator votes).
•Effective TPS for payments/apps is closer to ~1,000 TPS.
•Institutional appetite remains strong — four public companies collectively hold over 3.5M SOL (~0.65% of supply).
👉 Huge technical milestone, but the big question is: can Solana’s real-world usage scale to match its theoretical limits?
