ETH

Its drop in early September 2020 was sharp, reaching -36%. One of the main reasons for this is the gas fees.

In August 2020, gas fees were remarkably high due to network congestion and the hype around DeFi, where average fees reached around $14 for simple transactions and much more for complex transactions.

By August 2025, fees had significantly decreased, reaching around $1.85 on the main network and less than $0.15 on layer 2 solutions, thanks to technological improvements and reduced congestion.

This decrease reflects the maturity of the Ethereum network and the increase in its efficiency.

As we can see, the difference between the two periods is significant in the table, and we can conclude a different behavior of Ethereum during the severe correction in early September (we will update later).
