Today, important negotiations took place in Washington. We discussed many topics with President Trump. It was a long and in-depth conversation, including the situation on the battlefield and our measures to bring positions closer to peace. Several meetings were also held with European leaders and the President of the United States.
We discussed security guarantees. This is a key issue, a starting point toward ending the war. We appreciate the important signal sent by the United States regarding its willingness to support and participate in these guarantees. Much attention was paid today to the return of our children, the release of prisoners of war, and civilians held by Russia. We agreed to work on these issues. The American President also supported a meeting at the leaders' level. Such a meeting is necessary to resolve sensitive issues.
I thank President Trump for his invitation and for the unique format of our meeting today. I also thank all the leaders present: Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz, Giorgia Meloni, Alexander Stubb, Ursula von der Leyen, and Mark Rutte. Today marked an important milestone, a demonstration of genuine unity between Europe and the United States. The leaders came personally to support Ukraine and discuss everything that will bring us closer to true peace, a reliable security architecture that will protect Ukraine and all of Europe. We continue our work, coordinating our actions with all the allies who are striving to end this war with dignity. I thank all those who are helping us.
