Congratulations, Polkadot!
The elastic scalability feature of Polkadot 2.0 officially launched today on their Kusama, and the slot auction mechanism of Polkadot has finally entered history.
In the past two years, other public chains like Ton Chain have continuously subsidized the star dapps in their ecosystem with huge grants and official traffic. They even designated specific personnel to establish close ties with top CEX/DEX exchanges globally, assisting their star dapps on their chain to successfully launch their tokens on exchanges and helping various applications grow rapidly in their public chain ecosystem. I happen to know a colleague responsible for exchange public relations at Ton, and this alone makes me look at Ton with new respect.
It is said that in 2023, Arbitrum provided 8 million US dollars worth of ARB tokens as subsidies to the chain game project Beacon, used for airdropping to players of the Beacon game, assisting the Beacon project in player promotion and user acquisition.
Although the subsequent development of the Beacon game is somewhat lackluster, the investment from the Arbitrum Foundation undoubtedly made a huge contribution by allowing a large number of Web2 gamers to enter the Web3 world through the Beacon game, which is worthy of respect in itself!
In the past two years, Polkadot has also been collecting money for slot auctions from dapp project parties, locking up large sums of funds for 1-2 years before they can use Polkadot's infrastructure. Even if the project parties have money, they have to wait, waiting for available slots in the slot auction to participate and win the auction before they can deploy their projects in the Polkadot ecosystem.
Slot auctions should have been eliminated long ago; it's already 2025, and the supply of slots should no longer restrict ecological development.
Polkadot may be late, but it has arrived!
