STABLE COINS high APR? RISKY🔥 Examples of stablecoin failures / depegs TerraUSD (UST) – 2022 collapse. Went from $1 → less than 1 cent (lost ~100%). Wiped out $40+ billion. USDT (Tether) – The largest stablecoin. Has depegged temporarily during crises. Example: In 2022, fell to $0.95 for a short time, then recovered. USDC (Circle) – Considered safer, but in March 2023 during the Silicon Valley Bank crash, it fell to $0.88 before recovering when the U.S. government backstopped the bank. Smaller stablecoins (IRON, Neutrino USD, etc.) Many fell to $0.50 or below and never recovered. 3. How strong is USDT then? It’s the largest stablecoin (over $100 billion supply). Has survived multiple crises. But critics say Tether hasn’t always been transparent about reserves. A total collapse is low probability, but not impossible. Even a 5–10% depeg for a few days can hurt if your funds are locked. ✅ Conclusion: Stablecoins are not “risk-free.” Best case: They hold at $1 (most of the time). Worst case: They can drop 10–20% (temporary) or, like UST, go to zero. That’s why high APR (like 10%) exists → it compensates you for that risk. $ETH $USDT
