$WCT and @WalletConnect Tokenomics: Supply and Allocation
I’ve dug into WCT’s tokenomics to understand the economics of the network. The total supply is capped at 1 billion tokens , which immediately caught my eye. The allocation was also interesting: 18.5% went to airdrops and 17.5% to network rewards, with similar portions for the team and backers . Seeing that a big chunk was reserved for airdrops and rewards made me feel the team wanted to bootstrap community involvement. Another thing I noted is there’s no built-in inflation in the first few years . The docs explicitly say they don’t plan inflation in the first 3-4 years , meaning the early ecosystem can grow without dilution. From my standpoint, that means staking WCT and holding it won’t be eroded by new issuance anytime soon. It was also helpful to see the vesting schedule: some allocations vest over 4 years with a one-year cliff , aligning incentives. Understanding these details made me more comfortable participating. I know exactly how many tokens I could stake or earn, and how network fees (if introduced later) might be shared. Overall, the transparency of WCT’s tokenomics made me feel like I could be part of a thoughtful, long-term project.
