Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, the world’s first decentralized digital currency.
Here’s what is known (and unknown):
🧑💻 Identity: Nobody knows if Satoshi is a single person, a group of developers, or even which country they are from. The name “Satoshi Nakamoto” is a pseudonym.
📜 Whitepaper: In October 2008, Satoshi published the Bitcoin whitepaper titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.”
💻 Bitcoin Launch: In January 2009, Satoshi released the first version of Bitcoin software and mined the genesis block (block 0), starting the Bitcoin network.
🏦 Vision: Satoshi wanted to create a money system independent of governments and banks, based on cryptography, decentralization, and scarcity.
🕵️ Disappearance: Around 2010–2011, Satoshi stopped communicating publicly and handed over Bitcoin’s development to others. Their identity has remained a mystery ever since.
💰 Wealth: Satoshi is believed to hold around 1 million BTC, making them one of the richest people in the world—if they still control the keys.
Some people speculated Satoshi could be Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, Craig Wright, or others, but none have been definitively proven.
