Stablecoin issuer Circle announced the acquisition of the consensus engine Malachite developed by Informal Systems to support its newly established first-layer blockchain Arc, focused on stablecoin finance. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, and some former members of Informal Systems will join Circle. Malachite is built on the Tendermint consensus algorithm, emphasizing performance and security, and will continue to be open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 license, with Informal Systems continuing to support its application in other areas.
