Russian forces launched new drone and missile attacks on Ukraine overnight, hitting an oil depot run by Azerbaijan’s state-owned company SOCAR and damaging a Nova Poshta shipping terminal in the Odesa region. Local officials said all 17 storage tanks, the pumping station, and several control rooms at the depot were destroyed. No information about injuries has been released yet.

Ukraine said the strike was aimed at Azerbaijani property—this is the second attack on a SOCAR site in two weeks. A previous drone strike on August 8 injured at least four people. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged Azerbaijan to respond through diplomacy and legal action. Azerbaijani officials haven’t commented yet, but local media say more attacks could lead the country to rethink its ban on sending weapons to Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attacks “cynical” and said they were meant to hurt peace talks. The timing is important—Zelensky is about to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders in Washington to discuss a possible cease-fire. Russia has not responded to claims that it targeted the SOCAR facility on purpose.
