ANZ economist ShwETHa Sunilkumar stated that last year, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell was outspoken about the reasons for the upcoming rate cuts at the conference, but this year Powell may not be so forthright. Sunilkumar added that Powell might indicate a greater likelihood of implementing further easing this year, but will not commit to a specific timeline, especially after the stronger-than-expected July service and producer price data released last week heightened inflation concerns. She also noted that some regional Federal Reserve officials have become more cautious about the timeline for future easing.
