Funding for Build on Bitcoin (BOB): The Build on Bitcoin (BOB) layer 2 blockchain network, which uses a hybrid chain model to connect Bitcoin and Ethereum, has raised $21 million in several funding rounds since December 2024, including a recent $9.5 million round with investors such as Castle Island, Anchorage, Amber Group, and sats Ventures. This capital will be used to develop native Bitcoin decentralized finance (DeFi), with the launch of the BitVM bridge and a testnet planned for the fourth quarter of 2025.
Integration with Chainlink: BOB has partnered with Chainlink Scale, adopting Chainlink Data Feeds and CCIP to enhance the security and scalability of BTCFi applications. This allows developers to build more secure and reliable DeFi applications on the BOB network.
Launch of BOB as a Hybrid ZK Rollup: BOB has positioned itself as the first zero-knowledge (ZK) hybrid rollup, combining optimistic and validity rollups with technology from partners such as RISC Zero, Conduit, and Boundless. This advancement reinforces its role as a gateway for DeFi on Bitcoin.
