$SOL Stay Updated : The Alpenglow consensus protocol, proposed under SIMD-0326, has entered the community governance stage for Solana. It aims to reduce block finality from approximately 12.8 seconds to a median of 100–150 milliseconds. The voting process is scheduled to occur between Epochs 840 and 842, with each epoch lasting approximately 2 days. The current epoch is 834, as of August 14, 2025. For the proposal to pass, it requires at least two-thirds of the total votes (yes + no), with a quorum threshold of 33%, where abstentions count toward the quorum.
