BlockBeats reports that on August 17, according to Crowdfund Insider, Thailand will launch a new program on Monday allowing foreign tourists to exchange cryptocurrencies for Thai Baht for payments, aiming to revitalize the tourism industry following a decline in tourist numbers.

This program called 'TouristDigiPay' will be announced at a press conference hosted by Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira, with officials from the Ministry of Finance, Securities and Exchange Commission, Anti-Money Laundering Office, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in attendance.

The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission has completed a public consultation on the use of digital assets to support economic and tourism growth, with the feedback period ending on August 13.
