Ronin will return to Ethereum as a fully-fledged L2 network. The migration is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2026.

The team explained that the decision was made to reduce transaction costs and increase performance. Other benefits include greater attention from Wall Street and the restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation.

"This cycle has marked the institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies. However, the gaming industry has yet to fully embrace it," emphasized Ronin.

The project separated from the blockchain of the second largest cryptocurrency in 2021, becoming a sidechain. Since then, it has experienced several hacker attacks, one of which resulted in the loss of 625 million dollars.
