U.S. President Donald Trump greeted Russian President Vladimir Putin with a red-carpet welcome at their 16 August summit and signalled acceptance of terms advanced by Moscow for resolving the war in Ukraine, according to the Financial Times.
The abrupt shift has triggered alarm in Kyiv. Senior Ukrainian officials quoted by the newspaper called the move “a stab in the back” and said Trump appeared intent on securing a quick deal, raising concerns that Washington could scale back its longstanding support for Ukraine’s position in the conflict.
